At Home Teeth Whitening

How is teeth whitening done at home?

First, impressions are taken in our office and are used to make custom whitening trays that fit over your teeth. These trays are used to hold the whitening gel against the teeth. They are clear in color, very thin, flexible and easy to wear.

A day or two after the impressions are taken, your custom whitening trays will be ready for you to pick up. We will provide you with a comprehensive kit that includes the whitening gel that you will put into your custom trays.  We will take a “before” photo to document the shade of your teeth before you start whitening!

There are different formulations and concentrations of whitening agents available. The type and concentration of whitening gel that we recommend is dependent on the initial shade of your teeth and source of discoloration.

With only a few hours of wear per day, our whitening agent oxygenates stains out of your enamel in a very short time without altering tooth structure or existing dental work in any way.

Once your teeth have reached your desired shade, only an occasional “touch up” treatment is needed to maintain your new smile. We’ll want to take “after” photos at your next appointment to see your progress, and  we will monitor the shade of your teeth at your routine preventative care visits.
